Common use
Lquin is primarily used to manage various bacterial infections. This medicine is a part of the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics. The medicine can be used to manage respiratory, urinary, skin and soft tissue, and ear, nose, and throat infections. However, it is important to note that this medication only works against bacteria and is ineffective against viral infections like the common cold or flu.
Dosage and direction
Swallow the whole tablet with water. Do not crush or chew it. Try to take this medicine at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level in the body. Take the medicine in the dosage and frequency prescribed by your doctor. Continue with your prescribed course, even if you start feeling better mid-way.
Precautions
Muscle conditions: Patients with muscle disorders like myasthenia gravis or tendinitis should use this medicine cautiously as it may increase the risk of tendon rupture.
Heart disorders: People with a history of heart disorders like arrhythmia should be cautious, as this medicine could worsen their condition.
Seizures or epilepsy: This medicine should be used judiciously in patients with seizures or epilepsy, as levofloxacin can potentially trigger or intensify seizure episodes.
Contraindications
Lquin should not be used by patients with a known allergy to the Levofloxacin or other quinolones. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of tendon disorders or myasthenia gravis.

Drug interaction
Antacids: Antacids containing magnesium hydroxide or aluminium hydroxide can interfere with the absorption of levofloxacin, reducing its effectiveness.
Anticoagulants: Medicines like warfarin and heparin may interact with this tablet, increasing the risk of bleeding.
Antidiabetic medications: Levofloxacin may affect blood glucose levels, potentially impacting the effectiveness of antidiabetic medicines like metformin and insulin.
Heart medications: Certain heart medications like atenolol and bisoprolol might interact with Lquin and cause irregular heartbeats.
Missed dose
If you forget to take the medicine at the scheduled time, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosage schedule. Never alter your dosage without discussing it with your doctor.
Overdose
In case of an overdose, you might experience common symptoms such as nausea, headache, dizziness, or stomach discomfort. If you suspect an overdose, inform your doctor promptly.
Storage
Keep Lquin in a cool and dry place at a temperature below 30°C. Protect the medicine from light and moisture. Ensure that you keep it out of the reach of children. Always check the expiry date on the pack before taking the medicine.
